CHISTMAS CHALLENGE DAY 3: Xmas Color Sorting Dominos

Processed with VSCO with hb1 preset

Today was a hectic day, some here goes some simple Montessori activities. I just receive a shipment of new wooden toys with some colorful dominos in it. There are 10 blocks for each color and there are 12 colors in the set (total of 120 pieces). I took the red, pink, green and light green blocks for a color sorting activity.

Sensory development:
Sight, Touch, as well as Color sense. This activity is about color sorting, which is important part of the Montessori activities. Sorting teaches children to understand that things are alike and different as well that they can belong and be organized into certain group.

How to do it?

1. Select your X’mas color theme dominos or other color items.
2. Prepare matching containers, such as a bowl, Tupperware, basket
3. Offer the activity to the child and give an example of how to sort the colors.

Find the right moment to play with your child. Berry was certainly not in the mood to play. She got upset and dumped all the dominos. We will try this activity again next time.

Enjoy!
